At Zenon Dental Clinic, we provide orthodontic treatment with aligners and braces for adults and children from the age of 6.
We don’t just straighten teeth — we restore the proper function of the entire dentofacial system. This includes correcting the bite while considering the optimal position of the lower jaw, the balance of chewing muscles, and the health of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
Our orthodontic team is led by Dr. Nana Zhdanova, who brings over 22 years of experience and is ranked the #1 Invisalign orthodontist in Russia and the UAE.
We treat complex bite issues and TMJ dysfunction — including cases where other clinics may refuse treatment.
PhD, 22+ years of experience, Diamond Apex Invisalign Provider — the highest clinical status in the Invisalign system, held by only about 1% of orthodontists worldwide.
Each doctor has 10–20 years of clinical experience working with complex cases.
Performs functional diagnostics and supports treatment of complex TMJ-related cases.
What Is Orthodontic Treatment?
Orthodontic treatment is the controlled alignment of teeth and correction of the bite using aligners or braces.
However, straight teeth alone do not guarantee a healthy bite. At Zenon Dental Clinic, the goal of orthodontic treatment is to guide the lower jaw into its correct position, restore balance in the chewing muscles, and eliminate TMJ dysfunction.
Why this matters:
The chewing muscles and TMJ act as the “engine” and “joint” of the lower jaw — they determine how it moves and closes. If muscles are overloaded or the joint works asymmetrically, the jaw may close with a slight shift.
In such cases, even straight teeth may not function correctly, which can lead to:
- Frequent headaches
- Facial asymmetry
- Jaw clicking or grinding
- Other functional issues

Benefits of Bite Correction
Proper jaw alignment reduces strain on chewing muscles and the TMJ, minimizing clicking and discomfort.
Chewing load is evenly distributed, reducing enamel wear and the risk of chipping.
Fillings, veneers, and crowns are not overloaded, making them more durable.
Nasolabial folds, pronounced jaw angles, chin dimpling, and lip asymmetry — orthodontic treatment can improve these and other aesthetic concerns caused by an improper bite.
There are no real disadvantages. The only consideration is that treatment requires patience and discipline from the patient.
Doctor’s Opinion
Aligners expert, 20+ years of experience
We begin with comprehensive functional diagnostics to determine the correct position of the lower jaw. Then we perform orthodontic treatment to restore proper occlusion. Only after that do we consider veneers.
This approach takes more time, but it ensures a stable and long-lasting result.”
Our Approach to Orthodontics
Our approach — aesthetics through functional bite
We don’t just create a straight smile — we build a functional bite that determines comfort, health, and the appearance of the lower third of the face.
To achieve this, we use advanced diagnostic equipment rarely found in most clinics: CBCT, TENS, axiography, and intraoral scanning.
Based on combined data, we analyze the dentofacial system and design the future smile digitally — even before treatment begins.
We don’t just align teeth — we create a bite that is comfortable, stable, and aesthetically pleasing in the long term.
Functional Diagnostics: TENS & Axiography
A technology that gently relaxes chewing muscles using impulses. When muscles are relaxed, we can determine the physiologically correct position of the lower jaw — without compensation or overload.
If needed, an additional test is performed — axiography. It records the movement of the lower jaw and evaluates TMJ function.
Together, these methods allow us to understand:
- where the “correct bite” is
- how the jaw should move
- whether there is overload or dysfunction
Long-term results in orthodontics depend not only on retainers, but on a balanced bite, even load distribution, and a stable jaw position.
Why Orthodontic Treatment May Fail Without Functional Diagnostics?
Sometimes teeth can be aligned aesthetically, but the bite relapses over time. The reason is often not the braces or aligners, but the fact that only teeth were treated — without understanding how the bite system (jaw, TMJ, muscles) actually works.
leads to unstable tooth movement
increases the risk of relapse
may cause pain, bruxism, or bite instability

How the First Consultation Works
The initial consultation lasts about 1 hour. It is not a general discussion — it is a diagnostic visit based on digital data. Without comprehensive diagnostics, it is impossible to accurately assess the bite, jaw function, and risks.
We use a CBCT system that allows us to visualize the entire skull, TMJ, and cervical spine. This is important because orthodontics is not just about straight teeth — it affects cranial structures. There are only two such CBCT systems in the UAE: one in our clinic and one at the University of Sharjah.
The system provides highly accurate imaging of teeth, TMJ, skull, and cervical spine with minimal radiation exposure. We identify dentofacial abnormalities such as TMJ position, impacted teeth, and cranial asymmetries. Using AI-supported software, we perform analysis and planning — allowing us to establish a precise diagnosis, show the expected result before treatment, and define the treatment sequence.
We perform scanning of the dental arches and upload the data along with CBCT results into specialized software. In this system, Dr. Nana plans all tooth movements with high precision (down to fractions of a millimeter) and generates a visualization of the final result before treatment begins.
Patients can see exactly how their teeth will move step by step. We understand that patients want clarity — digital planning helps visualize the entire process in advance.
We take photos of the face and teeth from multiple angles to ensure accurate diagnosis and planning. These images also help track treatment progress over time. Short videos are recorded to assess facial expressions, lip position, and facial symmetry.
Only after completing all diagnostic stages does Dr. Nana present:
- treatment options
- timelines
- cost
After the consultation, the patient clearly understands:
- what the issue is
- how it will be treated
- how long it will take
- how much it will cost
Our goal is to provide a complete picture. Even if you decide later, there is no need to repeat diagnostics — we will simply continue from the existing data.
Stages of Orthodontic Treatment
Before starting, we perform dental treatment if needed. In some cases — functional preparation (splint therapy).
- Digital setup, aligner production, attachments/elastics if needed
- Regular aligner changes and monitoring
- Fine-tuning contacts, occlusion, and smile aesthetics
- Retention: retainers + follow-up protocol
- Bracket placement, wires, auxiliary elements
- Regular adjustments and monitoring
- Finishing: contacts, spacing, occlusion
- Retention: retainers + follow-up protocol
Aligners as a Foundation for Further Treatment
Aligners are often the first step before veneers, crowns, or implants.
Why:
- less tooth preparation for veneers and crowns
- proper load distribution → longer-lasting restorations
- predictable and natural final result
Orthodontics in our clinic is a team effort. If needed, we involve a: gnathologist, prosthodontist, implantologist, periodontist, hygienist. You receive a unified treatment plan, coordinated timelines, and one team responsible for the result.
Our patients include public figures and international experts who value quality, confidentiality, and premium service.

FAQ
Which aligner brands do you use?
How much does aligner treatment cost?
What is Dr. Nana’s aligner methodology?
Can aligners be used if I have implants?
What if I travel frequently or live in two countries?
How do I maintain results after treatment?
- Fixed retainer — a wire bonded behind the teeth (canine to canine)
- Removable retainer — worn at night over both arches
A removable retainer is often preferred, as a fixed retainer cannot maintain results beyond the front teeth, especially if the arch was expanded.
